Issue 6: Verve build gets underway

Community members who attended the Neighbour Day event at Verve in March took the opportunity to walk on site and view the considerable works now underway, with the eight apartments forming stage 1 due to be completed by Spring 2011. The image attached shows the footprint for the first apartments due for completion - conjoined apartments 35 and 36. Each apartment has been designed to maximise sunshine and views (see floor plan attached), and proportions are roomy with a flowing floor plan.
Outdoor gym now on site
Also unveiled at the Neighbour Day event was Verve’s new outdoor gym equipment and community garden, launched by Brighton Mayor Tony Foster. Mayor Foster planted a diosma shrub and said that the community garden is provided to offer Verve residents a recreation area that they can participate in as they please. “The community garden concept is very common in the UK and USA where allotments often have long waiting lists,” Mayor Foster said. “They also serve as destinations and communal interest points for neighbourhoods. Whether it is just for a season or two, or to produce vegetables and flowers all year round, a community garden is a great way to share knowledge, experience, cuttings and produce, or simply to experience the sheer enjoyment that working with nature provides.”
Verve registered for 5-star Green Star rating
With the latest environmentally friendly technologies incorporated into the development, the Verve project has been registered with the Green Building Council of Australia for a Green Star Multi Unit Residential V1 project, and is aiming for a 5-star Green star rating. Some of the environmentally-friendly considerations will include solar hot water, grey water recycling for in-ground irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and energy and water efficient appliances throughout the development.
